Here’s how the UFC compiled its official rankings:

The rankings are generated by a voting panel made up of media members. Media were asked to vote on who they felt was the top fighter in the UFC, broken down by weight and pound for pound. Fighters are eligible to vote only if they are active in the UFC. Fighters can appear in more than one weight division at a time. Champions and interim champions are considered to be at the top of their division. Therefore, they are not eligible to vote by weight class. However, champions can vote on a pound-for-pound basis.
