Arsenal deal with Timber injury as new signing could face months

Arsenal set to not sign Jerrine Timbers in the summer for several months. After this defender suffered a knee ligament injury in the opening game of the Premier League.

Arsenal new boy Jerian Timber has been sidelined for months after suffering an injury in the Premier League opener.

The Dutchman joined from Ajax for £40 million this summer. He made his debut in a 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday. But was taken off early in the second half with a questionable knee problem. The sticks were tested and scanned several times as doctors wanted to gauge the extent of the damage.




A statement from Arsenal read: “Apart from his replacement against Nottingham. Forrest on Saturday Jerryn Timber was thoroughly assessed and scanned. which confirmed that he had injured his right knee

“Jurrien will undergo a more detailed assessment and review with consultants in the coming days. to assess the full extent of the injury to determine the next step More updates will be announced soon, everyone at the club will receive it. Focus on supporting Jurien at this time.”

The Arsenal manager said immediately after the victory: “The officials, the doctors, they were looking at him and they were happy to carry on, so was he, but immediately in the second half. The first action he made the move and it was, it was a little funny. So we took him straight out. And now we have to assess him to see how he is.

Timber, who was on Manchester United’s radar 12 months ago as part of a defensive lineup featuring Dutchman William Saliba and Ben White, can play a number of positions in defense. But now the North Londoners will be missing out on that versatility.

if it is as expected Timbers had to be out for several months. He is likely to miss games against United, Tottenham and Manchester City, all of which come at the Emirates. Those matches will take place within the next two months. While Arsenal still have their Champions League commitments to juggle.

The lack of depth in Arsenal’s squad was cited as a problem last term as the Gunners finally fell in the final weeks of the season despite being at the top for a long time. Timber was one of many to arrive. Marquee, but Arteta will not be able to call him in the coming weeks.
